Tourism in Himachal Pradesh
Himachal Pradesh is known for its natural beauty and has become the hot tourist destination not In India but all over the world. Himachal is home of several hill stations. The mountainous landscape of Himachal Pradesh, at the foothills of the Himalayas, is made up of a series of valleys and snow covered peaks. Himachal can be visited in any time of the year but winter and summer are the more preferable. Manali, Shimla, Mcleodganj, Dalhousie, Rohtang Pass are the most visited hill stations. Other famous destinations are Dharamshal, Khajiar, Spiti Valley, Sangla Valley, Kufri, Naldehra, Kasauli etc.
In last few years tourism sector has grown enormously in the state. Per year the numbers of tourists visiting the state are increasing. The torism sector is one of the biggest contributor to the state state economy.
Himachal offers several adventure sports river rafting, paragliding, trekking, skiing, rock climbing etc. Bir Billing and Solang Nala in Manali are the famous Paragliding spots. Thrill of river-rafting can be experienced on the strong waves of Beas in Kullu, Sutlej in Kinnaur. Snow covered slopes of Solang Nala in Manali, Kufri and Naldehra in Shimla give opportunity to ski lovers to enjoy the ride. For people interested in trekking Himachal is the heaven with many adventurous Treks like Bijli Mahadev in Kullu, Churdhar in Sirmour, Triund in Mcleodganj, Shikari Devi in Mandi and many others.
