Chaupal is one of the Tehsil of Shimla District. Chaupal is famous for the production of high quality Apples.

Chaupal is a Himalayan town in Upper Shimla area of Shimla. Chaupal is surrounded by dense forest of pine and deodar trees.

Nerwa is a other small town in the area situated on both sides of a river shalvi tributary of tons river. Beautiful picturesque views can be seen while driving down to Nerwa from Chaupal.

Economy of people depends mostly over Apple's orchards. Best quality of Apple is grown in this area. Some rare variety of pulses are also grown here. Maraog Village is the richest village in Asia having highest per Capita income.

'Khirki' at a height of 2900 meter from sea level presents very mesmerizing views of Himalaya. The famous 'Churdhar Peak' can also be seen from places like 'Reyuni' and 'Chharki'.

Chaupal shares border with Sirmaur Distt and a small station in Uttarakhand called 'Tiuni'. There are many unexplored places in Chaupal.

Weather and Climate

Chaupal has a cool and moderate climate. It gets heavy snowfall between December and February and the temperature remains around freezing point. In the summer, the temperatures moderate around thirty degrees Celsius.

Sarahan: Sarhan is an another town near Chaupal. At Sarahan there are Temples of 'Kul Devtas'. One of the trek to Churdhar starts from Sarahan.

Churdhar: Churdhar is one of the highest peak of Sirmaur district. Churdhar having Statue of Lord Shiva on the top of it is also a famous trek.

Khara Pathar Kharapathar at a height of 2900 m, is a hotspot for tourists because of its natural beauty and picturesque landscape in Shimla district. Kharapathar's lush green slopes together with apple orchards, wide views, excellent walk and hike trails make this a perfect leisure.

Bijjat Devta Temple: Bijjat Devta temple is situated in Sarrain village of Chaupal Tehsil.
