About 24 km away from Dalhousie there is an another hill station called Khajjiar. Often called the Mini Switzerland, Khajjiar (2000m) is a lush green plateau with a small stream-fed lake in the middle which is the best part of Khajjiar

The hill station is surrounded by green meadows and dense forests. Khajjiar is situated in the Dhauladhar ranges in western Himalayas. Khajjiar has some topographical resemblance with Switzerland. snowy peaks of Dhauladhar ranges can be seen in the distance from here.

At Khajjiar there is a 12th century temple dedicated to Khajji Nag. Within the temple are life size wooden images of the five Pandav brothers.

This place also attracts adventure seekers and has a lot of options in adventure sports like horse riding, zorbing, trekking etc. A 3.5kms trek to Dainkund starts from Khajjiar. This is an excellent trek for beginners and children.

Weather and Climate

In winters, the temperature hovers around freezing point with snowfall. In summer, the climate is mild. In summers temperature varies from 25-40°C and 5-20°C in winter. This place is evergreen and can be visited throughout the year.

Chamba,Dalhousie and Bharmaur are nearby famous destinations.
Khajiar lake and khajjinag temples are the main attraction here. Tourist can also enjoy some adventure sports activities like trekking, rock climbing and river crossing here.

How to reach?


Khajjiar is connected by road and is 23 km from Dalhousie and 26 km from Chamba. It is 520 km from Delhi. The closest railhead is at Pathankot, 120 km. The airport at Gaggal in Kangra is at a distance of 180 km. Taxis and buses are available from all these places.
